FORWARDS

Kim

"I'm in my final year of vet school in Edinburgh. I started playing rugby 3 years ago and it's been a great source of stress relief and the team has become my family. My favorite position is #1 loose head prop, right in the middle of the action! I have 3 rescue cats! Proudly on my way to becoming a crazy cat lady"

Position: Loose Head Prop (1)

Amy

Amy is from Pennsylvania and is a fourth-year veterinary student at the Royal Dick. This is her third year playing rugby and she plays hooker for RDVC LRFC. When not on the pitch, she enjoys knitting, puzzling, baking, and generally just acting like an 80-year old woman.

Position: Hooker (2)

Jess O.

"I have never played rugby before and decided to get stuck in and have a go. All the girls are super supportive and I am really enjoy going training and competing with everyone. At home you would probably find me in a field somewhere either riding a horse or sheparding sheep back in Lancashire"

Position: Tight Head Prop (3)

ZZ

ZZ is a 3rd year on the team. Her first time playing Rugby was at Vet school and now she's hooked. She is interested in pursuing general mixed practice and is also involved in VetPals and football. Her favorite part of rugby is the exhilaration of a great dive-tackle. She finds that between sports and drinking oceans of tea, the stresses of Vet school are more manageable.

Position: Tight head prop (3)

Zoe C

Zoe grew up riding horses competitively in California. Two years ago she picked up a rugby ball for the first time and fell in love. She continues to get her horse fix through her studies of equine medicine and breeding.

Zoe I

"I'm a fresher at University and this is my first time playing rugby! Having never been involved in a team sport I thought I'd give a rugby a try and I couldn't ask for a more supportive group of girls. Back home I did ballet every week so this is certainly a bit of a change!"

Position: Lock (4/5)

Charlotte

"I'm from just south of the border and only in my first year of Vet Med. I've previously worked as a camel tour guide and then a certified yoga teacher, obviously the next logical step was to play rugby! I'm loving my time with this team who are all so kind and inspirational, it's a great sport for building confidence and taking on new challenges."

Position: Lock (4/5)

Ruth

Ruth is a proud "Jersey girl" and is a fourth-year student at the Dick vet. She started playing rugby during her first degree at uni in the States and has been hooked ever since. Ruth enjoys reading, live theatre, playing the violin and guitar, and barbecuing for her parents and three sisters.

Position: Lock (4/5)

Leah

"I'm from near Manchester, I grew up horse riding, playing netball and watching rugby league, then started playing union here. I have two dogs and a hamster."

Position: Flanker (6/7)

Elsbeth

Elsbeth is a Dutch girl with a little bit of Texas. She's a fourth year vet student who is now playing rugby for her third year running. Besides sporting, studying, and general tomfoolery, she enjoys spending time with her pup, "Sparky" or enjoying craft beer.

Position: Flanker (7)

Elsie K.

Elsie is a GEP student hailing from Wisconsin, USA. She played sports in the past, but never rugby, had never even seen a game! She joined the team thinking: different country, different sport. It's been a learning experience, especially the tackling bit. The team has been very inviting and encouraging. Elsie is looking forward to what the rest of the season has in store!

Position: Flanker (6/7)

Katie R

"I've grown up with rugby all around me and in my blood, but I'd never really tried it until meeting the team here at Edinburgh. From the first day I loved it and the girls are so so lovely. They supported me and trusted me to play alongside them in my first cap after only two weeks training. I'm looking forward to getting to know the team more and learning more about the game."

Position: Flanker (6/7)

Vicky

After leaving Canada and moving across an ocean to attend vet school, Vicky didn’t feel like there was enough change and challenge in her life - and so she decided to take up rugby. Two years later she is thrilled with the friends and memories that she has made along the way, and is so thankful for rugby and for her team for helping her grow.
